Global Climate Change
With over 20 years of COP global conferences there's still no globally binding agreement on how to tackle climate change and reduce global emissions below dangerous levels.
Contraction & Convergence
The most widely recognised solution available is Contraction & Convergence developed by Aubrey Meyer and the Global Commons Institute.
An outline of C&C is available in the Schumacher Briefing No.5 on the topic.
An easier video visual understanding of C&C is outlined in the film Age of Stupid
Global Tax Justice
Creating a fair tax system particularly for multinationals. See Tax Justice Network for more info.
Over 70% of the planet is ocean and yet compared to the protection of land based ecosystems the oceans are barely protected from human exploitation.
One of the solutions is the adoption of marine reserves to protect the natural ecosystems.
The UK established the Chagos Marine Reserve (Indian Ocean) in 2010 as the world's largest marine protected area covering a huge coral atoll.
Many more marine reserves need to be established and enforced worldwide.
Corruption & Transparency
Transparency International produce a global index of corruption by nation and Global Witness investigate global corruption
Forced organ harvesting (China)
In China it is culturally taboo to donate organs for transplant and therefore there is no functioning donor system as in the UK and other countries.
After the initial persecution of the Falun Group spiritual group in 1999 there was a sharp increase in the number of organ transplants taking place (over 60,000 between 2000-2008) with no explainable source for these organs other than the murder of thousands of detained prisoners of conscience for their organs, sanctioned by the ruling Chinese Communist Party in what is one of the worst global human rights
atrocities since the Holocaust.
